Paul is a qualified accountant (FCCA) and has worked in local government for 25 years in various finance roles. He is currently the Director of Financial Services for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils which covers Pensions (Investments, Accounting and Administration); Audit and Fraud Investigations; Insurance and Risk Management; Corporate Procurement; and Health and Safety. In 2016 with Richmond and Wandsworth creating a Shared Staffing Arrangement Paul merged the two Council Pension Funds into one, creating London’s largest LGPS Council Fund, which currently has approximately £3.2bn in assets and is over 115% funded. The Fund has an ambitious decarbonisation policy setting a net zero target of 2050 with a 60% equity carbon footprint reduction by 2030. To this aim the Wandsworth Pension Fund is heavily invested in sustainable investments including two energy transition funds. Wandsworth is the cornerstone investor for one of these funds thus demonstrating its aim to make an impact on climate change without sacrificing return or limiting diversification.
Whilst he takes a sensible and prudent approach to Fund Investments the same judgement unfortunately doesn’t apply when it comes to football as you will often find him volunteering at Sutton United FC.
